Since 1986, Kim has been showing reining horses in NRHA, AQHA and APHA competition. She has excelled at every level of the industry, from 3 year old futurities through USET events. Diercks now has over $254,000 in NRHA lifetime earnings and is a multiple NRHA Open Futurity Finalist, NRHA Open Derby Finalist, and NRBC Finalist.
Recent accomplishments for Kim include winning the NRHA Int. Open Derby Reserve Championship in 2002. At the 2003 NRHA Derby, Kim was the only rider to bring back all three of her mounts to the Int. Open Finals. She also made the Int. Open finals at the NRHA Futurity that same year.
In breed competion, Diercks has won several National and World tiles in the Morgan and Paint horse associations, and has garnered 2 US National Arabian Championships and numerous top 10s. As a respected professional, the Wisconsin trainer has been featured in training articles in numerous national equine magazines, including the NRHA Reiner.
And while Kim has been a force in the showpen herself, she has also coached her Non Pros to many major wins. In the last several years, it has become commonplace for her Non Pro clients to secure top finishes in the NRHA Non Pro Futurity, the NRHA Non Pro Derby, and the NRBC.
Kim's successful non pro clients include Chad Clark, a multiple NRHA Futurity finalist and the 2002 NRHA Non Pro Futurity Champion; Sally Broten, one of the all time leading NRHA Non Pro riders; Mike Garnett, World Champion and 2010 NRHA Intermediate and Prime Time Non Pro Derby Champion. In Arabian reining competition, she coached the 2010 Amateur Half Arab US National Champion & Scottsdale Non Pro Derby winner, Kim Niven.
Greg Gottschalk, Kim's husband, also has been very successful in Non Pro competition. He is a multiple NRHA Non Pro Futurity Finalist with over $184,000 in NRHA earnings. Sarah Hunt, another of Kim's winning Non Pro clients, has $42,000 in NRHA earnings and several NRHA Non Pro Futurity Finalists to her credit. Also a NRHA Futurity Finalist is Non Pro client, Steve Harris.
In a testament to Kim's skills at training Non Pro mounts and coaching their riders, at the 2001 Futurity, Kim had 4 clients enter the Non Pro Futurity, and all made the finals.
